(Yes, it’s old, I posted it because I chatted with two tech-savvy folk today who were unaware that Dell was even shipping *any* Linux … sigh.)

[You can, of course, still get FreeDOS, which is essentially an end run around the M$ “no shipping systems without OS!” restriction.]

This doesn’t matter to those of us who run open OSes already, but it’s good to have a recognizable name brand selling and *supporting* Ubuntu on lappys … way easier to convince people to make the transition, and $50 is a good chunk if you’re an organization replacing thousands of computers.

So, in the words of one /.er, “We’ve been asking for this for a long time, so stop complaining about little details. Vote. Wallet. Now.”
